My Fall Reading List

Hello Friday! I love Fridays during the Fall months because it’s the beginning of the weekend (duh) and it seems like there’s so much to do on the weekends during those months. I love being able to catch up on reading on the weekends and I have made a list of some of the books I am determined to read this Fall. This Summer, I read so many amazing books but I think only one of them was actually on my Summer Reading List post. I’m determined to be a little more intentional with reading so I hope I can read through all of these books this Fall.

Hipster Christianity: When Church and Cool Collide by Brett McCracken. I have read another book by this author, Grey Matters, and I really loved the points made in that book so I’m excited to read another of his books. This book explores Christianity and the church’s relevancy in our culture.

Lord of the Rings: The Two Tower by JRR Tolkien. I have been reading this book for almost a year and still haven’t finished it, not because I don’t like Lord of the Rings but because I have seen the movies a million times and like them so much better. But I will finish this book and then move on to The Return of the King.

Gods of War: Defeating the Idols that Battle for Your Heart by Kyle Idleman. I have also read one of Kyle’s books before, AHA, so I’m ready to dive into another one. This book is about how to identify the false idols in our hearts and the things that keep us from following Jesus. I know I am definitely guilty of having false idols at different times in life so this read will be very beneficial for me.

Wasted Prayer: Know When God Wants You to Stop Praying and Start Doing by Greg Darley. I read the description to some friends the other night and I had instant conviction, but it basically said that when we think we are praying–we are really procrastinating, and when we ask for God to do His will– we are telling Him no. Yeah. I’ve never said that before, right??

The Fringe Hours: Making Time for You by Jessica Turner. This title alone is refreshing to my soul. I am the kind of person that will go and go until I am utterly exhausted and/or sick. I often feel guilty for having to take time for me because I think that there are other things that I need to be doing– but I know that I can’t be useful or helpful to others if I can’t take care of myself. Anyway, so this book will be a great read!

What are some of the books you’re going to read this Fall? I’m always down to read more so recommendations are much appreciated.

Love from, Amy.
