Makeup for Glasses

I started wearing glasses, mostly full time, a few months ago and since then I have had to make some changes to the ways that I wear makeup. Some problems that I experienced, when I started wearing glasses, were that I had something sitting on my face that was smooshing around all the makeup that I had just put on and I thought that glasses made my eyes look super small. Uhghgh. However, since then I have learned a few tricks to help my makeup last longer and a few looks that help to make your eyes stand out. Here are some the different looks you can try out and I’ll list all the products that I used at the bottom of this post. P.S. how cute are these glasses? They are the Louise in Elderflower Crystal by Warby Parker.

Minimal Mascara

Aside from base makeup, I only added some mascara to this look. Wearing even a few layers of mascara can help to brighten and accentuate your eyes.  On your busiest of days, with not much time to apply makeup, this look is simple and effective. Make sure to set your makeup with some loose powder on the parts where your glasses will be covering and that will help the makeup to stay on longer. Using products that are waterproof are also awesome for lasting longer and not smudging when your glasses move around on your face.

Eyeliner and Bold Lip

For this look, I added a few extra coats of mascara and some eye liner on only the top eyelid. I went over the eyeliner with some black eyeshadow to help set the liner. I also used a cream eye shadow as a primer and a natural colored eye shadow. Eye primers can be a great thing if you have oily eyelids because it helps the shadow to stay on longer and prevents creasing. Also, if you’re going to add a bold lip, don’t apply a ton of dramatic eye makeup.

Smokey Eye

For this last look, I smoked out the eye with some brown hued shadows and then added some eyeliner to the top and bottom eyelashes. Don’t forget the eyelid primer on this look, especially because you are applying more shadows. If you’re going to apply a lot of eye makeup, keep the lips and everything else simple to draw the most attention to the eyes.
