Falmouth Cornwall: A Special Little Harbor Pt. 2

A couple of weeks ago I shared with you part 1 of my trip to Falmouth, Cornwall in England. Today I’m sharing part 2 and will tell you all about the things that I did during my visit. If you would like to read the first post–click here.

Our first morning there, we got up early and walked down to the high street. High streets are the primary business or city streets in England. It was so quiet in the morning and no one seemed in a rush to get anywhere. The leisurely pace of life is something I definitely wanted to bring back with me to the states. After walking through the high street, we walked down to the harbor. Being near the water, watching the boats rock, and hearing the dinging of bells were definitely highlights of the morning.

After leaving the harbor, we walked through other areas of the town and observed everyday life. The people in this town were so kind and welcoming–and even suggested things we should see in the town.

After we explored the town, we hiked up to Pendennis Castle (a fort constructed by Henry VIII). The views were breathtaking and worth the trek. It did cost to be able to enter the grounds, but I think it would have been a shame to pass up the opportunity.

On our hike back down from the castle, we stopped at a beach cafe and had a hot cup of PG Tips tea. Sitting on the beach, drinking tea with my mom, and looking out to the sea was my favorite part of Falmouth. This special little harbor town left such an impression on my heart and I’ll remember that trip with such fondness.

January Birchbox

Good evening my friends! I hope you have had a good day and that you’re settling in for the night. I’m back with another Birchbox reveal post to show you what came in this month’s box and some things that you could receive if you’re wanting to give Birchbox a try.

If I’m being honest, I almost didn’t post this today because in the scope of things and life–sometimes blog posts seem to be the least important/meaningful things and there are so many things that are just way more important. But (as my sweet little sister reminded me–love you Abs) one of the purposes of this blog is to be a little bit of an escape from whatever is going on in life, to provide some encouragement, life, and joy–so I’m going to keep writing blog posts.

Here is what’s inside my January Birchbox:

Oribe Gold Lust Repair & Restore Shampoo/Conditioner

d92f88c1-916a-4148-ad49-77584b77aae7

Oribe products are super expensive but they smell so good! I’m always excited when those samples are included. These are also a great travel size and might be coming with me on a trip later this week.

Laura Geller Fortifying Lashes Primer

b611be77-461b-4348-8c17-5ae2f946d2fb

I like that this is a black primer–instead of the white formula that others are. I’m interested to see what this is like to wear by itself and then with mascara.

Clark’s Botanicals Age Defying Radiance Cream

fbcebc28-305b-49b5-ad3e-40b7f9b0539b

This is another super expensive product if you buy it full-sized. I’ll make sure to use this one sparingly. The consistency of this cream looks like it will add a nice glow under makeup or just by itself.

Smashbox Cosmetics Photo Finish Radiance Primer

24db2362-6c84-48ec-92e8-caa4635de1eb

I have used this twice already and it was really hydrating to use under makeup–which is great for the winter. I also noticed a luminous finish and it helped to keep my foundation on for much longer.

Books I Want to Read: 6th Edition

It’s been a while since I’ve written a book-related post and thought I would do that today. Do you like to read? It’s one of things that I love to do in my down-time and while traveling. I like to read books about history, fiction, Christian living, and mystery. While I always have a list of books that I want to read and a stack of books that need to be read on my bookshelf, I try to just have a few books going at a time so that I finish them.

Also, this is totally unrelated but I’m just curious–have you ever started reading a book, decided it wasn’t for you, but then still read the whole thing? Or do you just stop reading? I’ve encountered this a few times but then felt guilty for not finishing it, haha!

These are the books that are currently in the rotation to read in the next couple of months. If you need some reading inspiration, I hope this helps you! What are you currently reading?

Reading People: How Seeing the World Through the Lens of Personality Changes Everything by Anne Bogel

22d1e5f1-f026-4ab2-aa06-f5c406db6b44

I can’t wait to read this book! I like to think that I’m good at “people reading” and having good instincts–but I’m so curious to know what’s inside of this book! I think learning about different personality types is fascinating.

Courage: Fighting Fear with Fear by Wayne Mack & Joshua Mack

00dd2520-7d4c-43fa-beed-d0223238f8e0

This book was recommended to me by my dad, after learning what some of my goals are for this year. I’m looking forward to reading this and the insight it will give to help in my journey of worrying less. A big shoutout to my dad, also–he’s one of the biggest supporters of my blog and comments on every single post that I publish. Love you, Papa!

Dance, Stand, Run: The God-Inspired Moved of a Woman on Holy Ground by Jess Connolly

10b6ff59-2779-408c-b013-235cd19f07d8

I love hearing Jess Connolly speak and encourage women in their walk with God. I’m really looking forward to reading this book!

Grace, Not Perfection: Embracing Simplicity, Celebrating Joy by Emily Ley

363b4cb4-ce64-4d0e-9540-7193e8b8daf3

I have heard a lot of really good things about Emily Ley’s books and wanted to give this one a read. The title seems like it would be something that would really speak to me in the ways of “embracing simplicity and celebrating joy.”
